up yours

i've pretty much been listening to x ray spex non-stop for the past week. on loop. in the car, in my room, in my sleep. they were pretty short-lived but are still one of my favorite punk bands from the 70's. the sound quality is very poor on the video, but you get the point.

i suppose poly sytrene was more on the cutesy side of the punk spectrum. i just love her screechy shouting singing voice.

this got me thinking about this spread in W's march issue with a sort of bad girl theme...

(i have no idea why this photo is rotated like this)

do you like my fancy super profesh technique of taking a picture of a picture?

Why yes, I do like it!
The top, rotated photo is my favorite.
Have you ever seen Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains? This spread completely reminds me of that.

Polly Styrene (Lead Singer) was waaay ahead of her time, not to mention FIIIIIINE. (Well... IN her younger years.)

you are too cool for liking x ray spex! I mean how can you resist a punk band with a saxophone player right?

Not a huge fan of X-Ray Specs but i like the day the world turned dayglo. you are basically my hero tho for not saying you like lady gaga or whoever else the kids are liking these days. That Law and order editorial is Ahmazzzzing!
