Yesterday was my dear friend's birthday so we surprised her with dinner at Lazy Ox in Little Tokyo. I'd never been before, even though I pass by it nearly ever weekend so I was excited to finally see what everyone (read: my three friends) has been talking about.
We both wanted to pick this up and eat it like a microwave baguette pizza but resigned ourselves to eating it with silverware like the civilized restaurant patrons we were. Actually, it was only to save our friends the embarassment so we decided we'd come alone next time and order four to make sandwiches out of them and go to town.
It's nice to try a new place with friends because you can order a little bit of this and a little bit of that and try everything. Then when you go alone in your sweatpants next time, you can order ten of just what you liked and let the elastic stretch to max capacity with no guilt or shame. Forks and knives optional.

Used to work in an upscale steak house and I have seen some of the snootiest rich people eat like pigs. Honestly, I've given up trying to remain civilized while enjoying a meal out... well, without talking with my mouth full. Gross. Those pizzas would make the best sandwiches ever! They look delicious!
I've been loving your narrative-heavy posts of late.
