QUADRUPLE TAKE

I'm still in shock and awe over this revelation that Shiny Plastic Hag (#brotherfromanothermother) brought to my attention over the weekend. The left are the infamous Chloe Susan boots and the right are vintage Gianni Versace couture boots??
I know. You peedpooed yourself a little too?

MY BRAIN =

Whatevs, I'll take either, thanks.

I have a feeling though that a lot of designers go through "archives" in search of inspiration? Kind of like how Kate Moss for Topshop was basically her just copying her own vintage dresses and finds. Yes? No? Brain still scrambled?

Ha, good old thieving of intellectual property. If you happened to see my blog post today, this is something I'm often thinking of. This is a blatant example that goes far beyond inspiration.

On another note, both remind me of Lyle Lovett.

Hahah love it!! Well I guess history repeats itself!

Hate them both, as much as all the knock-offs.

wow. i can't decide if this is embarrassing or just sad? maybe both? i love how designers (ESPECIALLY huge brands) think that they can copy whatever they want and not get caught. lunacy.

Whoa, that similar of a design is a little too close for comfort. They really didn't change much at all, the buckles are totally identical. Come on designers, leave the knock-offs to Jeffrey Campbell!

I made a post awhile back of the Chloe Susan's and every copy that existed. Office did one, Forever 21, several other Swedish companies, and then Jeffrey Campbell did that awful copy that is painful to even look at, yet somehow sold out. I thought the Chloe Susan was the most copied boot ever... crazy that this Versace one exists.

You're not the only person to do this, but I just gotta point out that the definition of "infamous" is notoriously evil/disgraceful. It's got a negative connotation, and I don't think that you're meaning to use it in that context. You may be looking for the following: celebrated, famed, noted, renowned, fabled (personal favorite).

They couldn't have at least used a different number of buckles?? The price for originality hardy har har.

Just saw the original on ebay, it's a men's pair and the seller is asking 2499 or best offer for them. Oh well, at least the Chloe version is more attractive.

yeah it's weird to see a huge designer rip off another huge designer.. but i'm sure they all do it. i'd take either!

haha that is so funny! I wore my F21 k/os a few weeks ago and as I was running out the door I ran into my lovely older gay neighbor who proclaimed he had some 'crazy designer boots just like those!' I laughed it off but it makes all the more sense now.

That's pretty crazy. we usually expect copies to come from the likes of Forever 21 or Jessica Simpson, not Chloe.

Ouch....that's harsh. Reminds me of how Alexander Wang's Freja boots we're in a same way 'inspired' by og Helmut Lang..

NO WAYYYYYYYY. My mind is now scrambled eggs! I've been oogling over the Susan boots FOREVER and I can't believe they weren't original. It doesn't make me feel terrible for buying the Jeffrey Campbell versions then.

Why do I find this funny??? Maybe because we were all thinking everyone was copying chloe and now we know they copied someone else!!! lol! I'd still do anything for those boots though!
