FAST FORWARD

Bought this case in Hong Kong earlier this year thinking that maybe one day I would upgrade my phone. A chance encounter in Kentucky lent itself to finding a 4S that didn't require a waiting list or even a semblance of a line - an impossible LA scenario. I had nearly forgotten what it was like to press a button and the corresponding function happen immediately.

I suspect a lot of you have never owned a cassette tape, but there are probably some of you who, like me, used to reappropriate your parent's church sermon cassettes into mixtapes. The key was to scotch tape the holes on the sides. You've never experienced the 90s unless you've received a white cassette with a sharpie-written playlist.

A guy I dated 4 years ago gave me a mixtape, which was really sweet :) shame it had crap music on it. It's very strange to thing that there are people who have never used a cassette. Or 'accidentally' recorded over recorded bible passages.

Pure 90s nostalgia.
Haha, I had never heard of church sermon cassettes, let alone their being turned into mixtapes!

Whoever came up with this idea is a genius. . . and the plastic sheath too! I loved mixtapes. . . i never made them/received them from boys (no lovesong mixes), but my girlfriends always loved getting my random mashups as gifts.

some of my best childhood memories included waiting patiently for my favorite radio stations to play the songs i wanted to record on my mixtape. love the 90's.

love that phone case! and oh how i love casette tapes. i remember taping "regulator" off the radio and making a casette that just repeated the song "regulator" over and over so i could learn the words. those were the days (days of loserdome).

it's weird how many interations of media-playing our generation has gone through- records (well sort of), casettes, cds, and now mp3. wonder what is next.

I've just ordered this cover from amazon! So excited about it's arrival. I too had forgotten what it was like for my phone to do what I wanted straight away! Great blog xx

This is ghetto but I didn't even realize the thing about the tape until waaaaay late, I always just stuck pieces of paper in the hole! BTW, this post brought back so many great memories.

Please tell me you also used to make your own mixed tape with you talking into a mic connected to the stereo, either singing or preferably rapping?
