For my inaugural shoot I knew from the get-go that I wanted to collaborate with my immensely talented friend and photographer, Brook&Lyn. She has a way of capturing light and lines in such a beautiful way. Ideal really, for the Marni pieces I styled for the shoot. The Fall 2013 collection seemed a contemporary spin on 60s glamour - structured pieces in luxe textures - almost like the wardrobe from a film. The looks were rounded out with a few more casual pieces from Pre Fall. I felt like a modern day Tippi Hedren and the quiet eeriness of the photos was just what I was hoping for.

CONFESSIONAL

ph by Brook&Lyn

I work a full-time 40+ hour a week job. I know I know, broken record, get on with it, but I have a point so bear with me. Blogging itself is practically a full-time job as well, so combined with afore-mentioned, most days I feel like I'm working around the clock. Is it rewarding? Sure, I wouldn't do it if it wasn't. But a lot of times I wonder if I'm half-assing both? Well truth be told, not really my job job, cause that's how mama pays the bills so I can't really scrimp on that. So I guess really just the blog.

I miss having time to sit and scour the internet for interesting (to me) things to post about. You really need time to churn out original content somewhat regularly. So the majority of the blog now has become a receptacle of outfit posts, just to maintain. And I hate that. So in an effort to turn this ship around I've been brainstorming ways to create original content without resorting to camping out on the internet (and subsequently getting fired from my job) and while trying to fulfill the creative bug in ways beyond my own personal outfits.

Full disclosure: bloggers get gifted, yes. Bloggers get offered loaners, yes. I'm pretty particular about what I actually accept though. I decline things regularly - a PR person's worst nightmare. But I regard it as a conscious effort (read: mission) to not be wasteful and also to keep the content here as true to my voice and authentic as possible.

Pause for anonymous hate commenting.

Ok where were we? Yes loaners. I personally am not a fan of outfit photos incorporating loaned looks. I find that it creates this jumbled blur of what's fantasy what's reality? I mean hopefully we're all adult enough to discern that for ourselves, but maybe if you're like me you just want to compartmentalize. I've always shared what I really own and how I really wear those things. Fine yes, somewhat aspirational at times (Céline? guilty as charged), but mostly just me in all my M-F street urchin (proof on Instagram) glory. But then where is my fantasy compartment? How do I work with the brands I love and style beautiful beautiful things, while removing real life regular Jayne from the equation?

And now finally we have arrived at the long-winded point - I'd like to think of this new segment as "editorials" (quotations to highlight my bashfulness) if you will. A way to collaborate with my favorite brands and photographers to create my own personal take on styling looks outside of what I would normally wear. Just an escape really. Hopefully you'll enjoy the first one as much as I enjoyed making it. And hopefully we're all just here to have fun. Coming soon to a computer screen near you...

WHITE OUT

Zara linen tee // 3.1 Phillip Lim shorts // vintage flannel // Balenciaga boots

One word. Skort. But backwards.

WHEN PERFECT HAS A NEXT LEVEL

I've secretly been on the hunt for the perfect classic not-overly-designed biker jacket. Vintage was the most affordable, but it's so hard to find a perfect slim cut with leather that doesn't make you feel like you're wearing shoulder weights. I finally narrowed it down to the Acne Mape Jacket (left), but now they threw me for a loop with this textured leather and detachable shearling collar version (right). Crying at all this perfection.

WOOD YOU IF YOU COULD

CÉLINE top // Ksubi jeans

For those of you who wish you had my life, all you have to do is work 9 am - 7 pm everyday and then come home and watch old episodes of Lie To Me (because you've already seen every single episode of SVU 3 times from that one time you watched it from the first episode of the first season to the last episode of the last season front to back to front again). This is about as much partying as I do. And I like it. #friday

WONDER WOMAN

CÉLINE top // Zara shorts // CoRNETTI sandals

Simple 1-2-3. Top, shorts, sandals. Easy.

SUNNY DAZE

I was about to write "I don't know when I became such a sunglass person" but that's a lie. I think it was when I discovered that there actually were frames that fit my face, after a lifetime of cheek indents and hovering-over-nose-bridge from ill fitting sunglasses. Now I'm just downright greedy and wire frames with nose pads are my new best friend. Case in point, meet my new friend Ilaria.

LEATHER WEATHER

Four out of five workdays I wear a tshirt and some sort of comfy pants. One out of those four days is a borderline sweatpant pajama variation. So I'm thankful for pants like these that trick my body into thinking they're sweatpants, but I can look down and breathe a sigh of proper work attire relief that they are indeed leather. Heck I'm practically dressed up! And especially in this sweaty knee pit weather we've been experiencing, stretchy loose leather is a godsend.

As dark or broody as I dress and despite my high fashion predilections, when it comes to art and visuals I'm more moved by the quirky and offbeat. Sometimes art looks easy, but it takes a certain kind of mad scientist or exceptional visual communication skills to get these images...just...so. I'm really into the work of Anna Lomax. Loving these Mansur Gavriel bags. The bucket might just have to be my next everyday bag.

ALL MY FRIENDS ARE DEAD

vintage tee // vintage Levi's // 3.1 Phillip Lim jacket // CÉLINE Trio bag // Jenni Kayne D'Orsay flats // Ray Ban sunglasses

Some day there will be a day when I won't complain anymore - about too much work, about too little time, about being so tired, about not knowing what to eat - but until then, here are some photos from a month ago to distract us. It was windy and I went to go see dinosaurs. You can do that sort of thing on your birthday.

And yes, I listen to Iron Maiden. Relax anons.
